Covid Treatment Q & A
Which COVID-19 tests are available?
Dr. Ganti and his team offer both rapid testing and PCR testing for current patients. Rapid testing delivers results quickly, but PCR testing can be more accurate. Dr. Ganti can help you decide which method of testing is best for you.
COVID rapid testing
Rapid COVID-19 testing is quick. It might be a good option if you need your test results right away or if you have obvious symptoms of COVID-19.
In a rapid test, Dr. Ganti gently swabs your nose or throat. He analyzes the sample in the office to detect coronavirus protein fragments in your body. Depending on the type of rapid test he uses, results may be available in just 15 minutes.
COVID PCR testing
Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing is considered the best way to diagnose COVID-19. Dr. Ganti might recommend PCR testing if you were recently exposed to the virus or if you have COVID-19 with no symptoms (asymptomatic). PCR test results are available within 45 minutes from the time of the test.
When do I need to get tested for COVID-19?
Getting a COVID-19 test is simple and it’s the only way to diagnose the disease. You should consider getting tested if you have COVID-19 symptoms or if you’ve been exposed to the virus.
It’s not always easy to know if you need to get tested for COVID-19. If you’re a current patient with Dr. Ganti and you’re not sure if you need a COVID-19 test, give the office a call.
Should I get a COVID-19 vaccination?
COVID-19 vaccinations are safe and effective. Getting vaccinated lowers your risk of getting sick from the coronavirus, and it helps prevent the spread to others.
Dr. Ganti and the team offer the Moderna COVID-19 vaccination for current patients. The Moderna vaccine typically requires two shots, with an optional booster. Talk to Dr. Ganti to find out if vaccination is recommended for you.
Remember to follow all local guidelines for quarantine if you or a family member tests positive for COVID-19, whether you are vaccinated or not. Dr. Ganti and our team can recommend the best COVID-19 treatment based on your condition and overall health.
